SECA held an online career talk for the 2nd-year students of Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Diploma in Electrical Engineering on 21st October 2021.
Representing SECA were Mr Somchai Virabhak (SECA Vice President – Operations) and ON Engineers’ Mr Steven Leong. The talk covered the wide skillsets required in the electrical industry, and as the students’ specialisation choices will be in Power Engineering or Solar Photovoltaic, we also focused on the possible career paths in being a Licensed Electrical Worker (“LEW”) or in the Solar Photovoltaic industry.
More than 120 students attended the talk, and the questions raised by the students showed the keen interest the students have to be the future drivers of the electrical industry.
This career talk follows-up on SECA’s recent discussions with BCA and the PMO with regard to the manpower requirements of the electrical industry and more specifically, how to attract and retain young talent in order for them and our industry to grow and excel.
